Australian Federal Election 2010

The 2010 Federal Election has been called. Election day is Saturday 21 August, 2010.

The Australian High Commission in Nairobi will NOT be open for voting on Saturday, 21 August, 2010.

However, if enrolled, you may cast a postal vote or a pre-poll vote from Monday 16 August to Friday 20 August 2010 during set hours at the Australian High Commission, Riverside Drive (400 mtrs off Chiromo Road), Nairobi, Kenya.

Pre-poll Voting

The polling booths at the High Commission in Nairobi will be open between:

8am -4pm, Monday to Friday, from 16 to 20 August, 2010.

For security reasons all Australians intending to lodge a pre-poll vote should bring their Australian passport or other photo ID if the passport is unavailable.

Postal Voting

Voters who are unable to vote in person at the High Commission in Nairobi can apply for a postal vote by completing an Application for a Postal Vote.

The High Commission will send the voting material to you when the ballot papers have been received. The deadline for receipt of completed Postal vote application forms is 01:00pm on Thursday, 19 August, 2010.

Further Information

Enrolment and voting by Australians who are overseas at the time of the election is not compulsory. If you are not in Australia on election day you will not be fined if you do not vote.
